Our mission here at Mercy Pet Hospital is clear: to underscore the vital role comprehensive pet wellness care plays in keeping your dogs and cats thriving at every stage of their life.
Whether it’s through routine wellness exams or tackling potential health concerns early on, we’re with you every step of this journey. After all, healthier pets lead to happier families—and that’s what motivates us day in and day out.
Come see how lifelong wellness starts with us.
Puppies & Kittens
We strongly encourage a complete physical exam for your puppy or kitten at the time of vaccinations. Exams help determine if there are existing congenital, hereditary, or developmental problems. We try to make these visits as informative for you and as fun for your little one as possible. Puppies and kittens should receive at least one exam during the course of their vaccinations prior to their spaying or neutering.
Adult Dogs & Cats
Your adult dog or cat should have an annual thorough physical exam. During the exam, we look at the ears, eyes, and mouth. We also listen to their heart and lungs and feel the abdomen and the rest of their body for any growths. Hopefully, any abnormalities can be caught early and treated successfully. Some common health conditions of adult pets include:
- Allergies
- Ear Infections
- Lameness
- Respiratory Disease
- Dental Disease
- Skin Growths
- Gastrointestinal Disease
- Urinary Tract Infections
Senior Dogs & Cats
Because the older dog or cat is much more likely to have medical problems, we recommend a bi-annual physical exam. Because most animals hide symptoms of internal disorders, we recommend senior pets should get, at the minimum, a blood chemistry profile (BCP) and a complete blood count (CBC) annually for early detection of health problems. Any abnormalities found may need further diagnostic testing. Common health conditions of senior pets include:
- Periodontal Disease
- Obesity
- Endocrine Diseases
- Kidney and Liver Diseases
- Heart Disease
- Arthritis
- Loss of Vision
- Cancer
- Behavioral Changes
